hey everyone, i tried searching for this and couldnt find what i was looking for.

i have an old fat ps2, version 2, and ive been having problems with the dvd drive reading games and movies lately. so i want to replace it. should i replace the laser or the whole drive? also, do i have to replace it with a version 2 drive or can i replace it with a newer drive? i want to use the swap trick so i can play custom guitar hero songs, so it has to be able to read burned dvds. and i have never been able to read any burned dvd movie with my current drive.

u probly just need a new laser and ur drive cleaning. If you do need a new drive i think that v1-4 drives have the same connector v5+ hav ribon cables.
