Hey !
It would be fun to see which dvd player is the best (fastest), and to do this use "NeroDVDSpeed" from http://www.cdspeed2000.com/go.php3?link=dvdspeed.html
and the write down the average speed and the to speed.
And if possible us dvd disc whit dual layer and singel layer(I think there is big diffrence in dvd speed)
And to do it easy for others whrite something like this:
Dvd Player = Samsung sd616q
Average speed = 11.14x / singel layer
Top Speed = 14.5x / singel layer
-
Average speed = 4.73x / dual layer
Top Speed = 6.29x / dual layer
-Dual layer The Matrix
-Singel layer A Sahara Brightman DVD (Thats was the only singel layer dvd i could put my fingers on)

DVD Speed will not tell you which DVD player is best but only gives a general indication of the quality of the burnt DVD disc.

Well this has no point since you can watch a movie even with a 1x DVD player.
And for the ripping problem you may have the fastest DVD and you rip in 2x because of protection stuff.
