is it possible to convert a PAL gamesave to an american one?

my best guess is to get a PAL version of the game, load the save then swap it out for an american version then save again which in the unlikely chance that it would work would probrably produce an american save...or you could check a site like gamefaqs.com for a similar save as to the one that you have in a PAL format
