I know that there are models that require a fix.. Like models 7-10? I can't remember which one it was lol. I need the newest model of PS2 that doesn't require a fix, and is best with reading all media types.

Why would buying a V12 be a prob when a laser fix for it would only be $5-$10 in New Zealand dollars,it's a small price to pay for a much later unit

I already have a V12. I don't want it, it's a slim PS2. I asked for the best fat PS2.

The first model 30001 has a expansion bay(for network adapter & hard drive),IEEE 1394(firewire),plays CD/CDR/DVD/DVD9/DVDR,2 usb ports.
30001R prevented some non solder mod chips from working.
50000 and 50001 added an ir senser(for DVD remote),Progressive scan(for dvd movies),quiter fan,and it plays CDRW/DVDRW,but it has no IEEE 1394(firewire).
(note)30001 has the most playable playstaion games and all of them have the memory card exploit.(end note)

V7 hands down is the best PS2 fat model made. My next choice would be a V5/6
Both have strong lasers and will last you a while. I have one of each, My V7 has run flawless for many years now. My V5/6 had toi have a laser replaced after quite a few years (also had a chip put in while i was at it) and not it is back to 100% again.
If you are interested and live in the USA Teammodders.com sell premodded V7's. If i can find the original top and screws for my V7 (has a fliptop) i would sell it.

I have paypal but i have the free account and have never tried accepting payments with it. Not sure if you can or can't as i do not use it much. I would sell it for $65 ($50 + $15 for shipping) if your interested. I would of course send the swap discs i have as i do not need them (Swap Magic V3.0) and the networking CD. I do not have the network adapter though, i gave that to a friend with my old V5/6 a while back. So you would be set to play back ups until you got a chip. But if you know for sure that you will go for a chip (which would be my choice) you are better off just going to Teammodders.com and getting a premodded one which would run between $205-$220 depending on the chip you wanted.
http://www.teammodders.com/premodded/
here is the non-premodded breakdown
my V7 $65
Ship to be modded $15 each way
chip $20-$55 depending on which one
install $35
only about $35 cheaper.

Well, I have a chip lol, DMS4, two of them. I can install it, and everything, so I'm cool with that. But your consol, as is, it works right?
