My Chipped PS2 Won't Play Games!!

Hiya,
I've had my ps2 now for about 3-4 years and it's been really good to me..about 1 1/2 years ago, my boyfriend got his ps2 chipped(with the swap flip lid) and said that it was much easier and he could give me 50 games right away and could download me more no bother!! I thought great! and so I bought all the equipment for it and my boyfriend installed it no bother and it played games perfectly.
I stopped playing it for a while(a good couple of months) and just tonight as I wanted to play it I switched it on and loaded the disk and when I put in the game and pressed for it to start it didn't start it made a mad buzzing and churping noise. I tried it with 3 other games but it's still not working and Im not sure what's wrong.It's done this before and my boyfriend managed to fix it as he cleaned the laser and it seemed to work but now it's doingit lal over again and this time Im not sure it's just the laser that's doing it!!
Can anyone plz try and lighten me up to what the problem might be or if anyone has or had this problem and know how to fix it..I know it's an old computer so it might just be that but it's been realy good ot me and not really had any bad problems! And I really wanted to play a game as I was really in the mood and can't now which is frustrating!

I think you would be better off asking under the PS2 Hardware Boot Discussion rather then here. The PS2 Software Boot Discussion section is usually associated with Swap Magic, rebuilding games and such.

On a side note, I think you would be better off clarifying what kind of PS2 do you have exactly -- the old fat PS2, a black, slim PS2, or a silver, slim PS2. Because from what I'm reading so far, and to help others who are better at this sort of thing, I believe you might have an old fat PS2 while your boyfriend has a slim PS2.

Emm Im not sure what kind of chip it is it's the one with the flip lid it's not actually got a chip inside it's just the chip and the flip lid where you put the cd in and then put ur game in etc!! it's ok my boyfriend has got it working again and Im gonna try and sel it anyway so anyone interested?? thanks anyway!

That sounds like it is clearly Swap Magic or some sort... not a modded PS2.

And, from your first post, I'm guessing your laser is probably near its end. You could always opt to find a laser replacement or simply get a new PS2 and use your Swap Magic set for that instead. Your choice.
