Ok, today i burnt Kingdom Hearts 2 final mix + after i downloaded it, and this is the 2nd time something goes wrong.
Ok i will explain what's happening: My games that i burn have looooooooong loading times + one of them has music cutting out sometimes. Note that i DOWNLOAD these games (not back them up) (i hope im not doing everything against the rules, im just saying that i have problems with the games i download)
Here's the process:
I download these games, most of the games i download come in parts so i have to extract the iso from the rars. I go to the first RAR that i see on the page and i just take the iso out of there. Then after i extract the iso, i burn it to a DVD-R (specific: Office Depot DVD-R 4.7GB 16X) at a speed of 1x. Then i just use my swap magic to boot it up.
Results: A game with slow loading times and and in one game, the music cuts off sometimes.
Ok, actually i downloaded and burnt two games in my whole life: KH2FM+ and Okami. Okami is the one with the music cut offs and both have long loading times.
Causes:
-Maybe im not extracting it correctly
-When i tell it to burn at 1x it usually burns fast, like KH2FM+; a 3.36GB game. I tell it to burn at 1x. Half an hour later it's done.
-In okami, some of the files were not RARS; like, the game was divided to parts. all of the parts were suppose to be rar, so i tried to extract the files and it still extracted from those that weren't rar or something (they didn't have the RAR symbol on them but still)
Modchip: Swap magic 3.8 coder with fat ps2 and slide card.
Burning program: DVD Decrypter
Is there something i can do? Should i start using Nero?

I mean, a better brand discs. Office depot brand are probably low quality. Try some Sony or Verbatim discs.

Well, i backed up my RAC3 and now imma see if it's not working good. if it is that means im doing something bad with ISOs, if it's working bad it means that something is wrong with the dvd decrypter/discs.

I can pretty much guarentee you its the DVD's you bought. You need to go a little hiegher up on the quality scale.
Dont worry about spending a little extra, you are already saving a ton.

Better media is the obvious suspect in getting better results. As for you doing something against the rules, this site doesn't condone piracy. If you want something cheap, decently good, and nearby, try locating some Ritek or Sony DVD-/+Rs. DVD-Rs are preferrable if you can use them and they're cheaper. As for your blank statement about "aren't all DVD-Rs the same?", research a bit on your own about that. I suggest trying to look up how to read PI/PO results if you're interested. I swear, once I switched media brands, I hardly wanted to go back to using horrible media like Memorex or Fujifilm.

Ok, this is getting very confusing. I went to the 'how to backup ps2 dvd games' guide in the other forum. And now im very confused @_@
1. It says i should use DVD+R
2. It says i should use booktyping, but my Philips drive isn't capable of that, but i burned some games to DVD-R and now they are DVD-ROM so i might not have to use booktyping... should i get a new drive? (i use PHILIPS DVD+-RW SDVD8431)
3. Should i use a different program? like Nero?
About the discs, okay imma try to get sony discs.
