My dell PC came with a DVD+/-RW and I just got and external DVD+/-RW, so now im wondering instead of backing up the movie onto the PC can I just put the movie in the PC drive and a blank DVD in the external drive and burn it??
If so, How??
Thanks in advance.

If I was going to try to burn on the fly I would let my external be the reader and my internal be the burner. Burning on the fly isn't a recommended or reliable method, but some people have no problems doing so.

Nero or similar software should do the trick...select your source as your reader and target as your burner.

Good Grief...what programs do you have access to, what would you like to use to try and accomplish this task?

Here is a pic, like LOCO said i advise against burning on the fly,
plus if you only have Nero, and are trying to copy a commerical dvd Nero cant handle the protection, so it wont let you do it.
Like Mike said in your other thread you need AnyDVD to break the protection, although with the newer dvds, there is loads of structure problems too

the external usb connection isn't guaranteed to be as fast or stable as the internal drive. you can only burn as fast as you read, so it's better to read from the possibly slower drive, lest ye feck up your burn.

Sorry for the delayed response....had to work and sleep.
looks like 300bowler has you squared away.
@born2ride
Auslander took the words out of my mouth...I would be leary of the data breaking down over a USB connection creating a Coaster. It may or may not happen, but I personally wouldn't want to take that chance.
