WinDVD Creator error when recording a VCD

I use the streaming video capture tool (from picture package) to record the video from USB from my video camera to my comp, which saves into an AVI format.

I then try to use WinDVD Creator to change it to a VCD format that can be watched on a computer. I don't have a DVD burner I only have a CD-R rewritable drive and am trying to burn the VCD on a CD-R.

I have managed to do this once, only now everytime the process gets to the Authoring section the program stops and ejects the disc and says, "Error cannot complete the Authoring process".

It's driving me crazy, does anyone know what the issue may be?

Or closer to the fact should I even waste my time? Are there perhaps other programs I can use to capture my video and transfer it to a veiwable format without a DVD burner?
