Is there a program that can embed subs onto a video?

Okay, I have dvd's, but my dad mostly speaks spanish and is a bit of a techno phobe and doesn't know how and doesn't wanna know how to change the subs on a dvd to get the spanish subs on. So, I tried Nero and shrink but they both burn dvds with subs that have to be selected.
Is there any way or any program where I can back up a movie and have the subs embedded onto the video so no effort has to be done?

You can do it with DVDShrink in reauthor mode. Right click on the title-> Set Default Streams-> Subpicture-> 'Display the following subpicture'. The subs should now come up automatically.
