Nero Backitup restore error from external HD

Before sending my laptop to Sony for repair, I backed up the HD to an externalHD using Backitup from Nero 7. My computer is back, and alldata wiped clean, so I figure OK, I'll just restore the drive.
To do this I created the Nero boot CD (which is linux), and booted up the computer, which brought me to the restore program. Most of the times I do this the external drive shows up, and Nero correctly identifies the backup data, but when I go to restore, I keepgetting an error message saying that there is a memory failure.
