Ok let me get this straith....as far as i know there are three ways to play backed up or downloaded image files on ps2. 1- modchip 2- swapmagic 3-HD (usbeXtreme).
well i've got none of them. I was thinking of getting USBeXtreme but everyone keeps saying that it sucks!
what do you suggest??

one more thing.
a friend of mine said that if you add something to a ps2 iso (a kinda file of some sort) and burn the iso on a dvd.... it will then work without needing any mod or swap. is he crazy or is it really possible???

thx

I wanna play ps2 isos without modchip

it's not possible; the missing code is a section pressed onto the disc during the production process and can't be replicated with a burner.

yes, your friend is just mis-informed.

here are your choices:
1. Swap Magic and one other mod. cheap but does the trick although it can also be a complete pain. Plus some games need to be rebuilt to work or even use special loading program with Swap Magic to play them.

2. a GOOD modchip. More expensive for sure, but hassle free and hands down the best mod you can get.

if you have a slimline PS2 then a memory card exploit doesn't work from what i have read. So it is only an option with an older model.

Mod chips do not screw up your laser, then only one that had problems were the V12 systems and a laser fix can solve that.

In my opinion, (remember only mine so dont bite my head off lol ) running games off the hdd with HDloader from ps2hd.com is the best way to play games. very fast load times and it doesnt matter if you laser is stuffed like mine :)

I have an 80gb hdd installed on mine and it works great.

While getting the chip installed get the laser fix as well it'll stop the laser from frying and is what your referring too,the cost in NZ dollars is 10.00 for laser fix
