COMPLETELY new to DBox2 what do i need?

Hi im completely new to this whole thing, someone today has offered me their nokia dbox 2 for £60, which as i understand is a pretty good price?
I am interested in setting it up but short of buying a guide from ebay, I am struggling to find much info on it apart from 404526_c09 newb guide which made perfect sense to me apart from the part about choosing the right box.

I would've thought i would need the Satellite version? I do have an unused digital sky dish outside but i dont have cable tv.

I read on this forum that with the sky dish i wont get all channels, so do I need a cable tv subscription to make the most of this box?
Sorry if this is a dumb question or if i have missed something obvious but i would really appreciate a reply with telling me exactly what i need to make the most out of this Dbox 2.
