So, what DVD burner to buy tomorrow?

I've got an AMD that used to have a pioneer DVD burner. It worked pretty well for burning PS2 games. Stopped working sooner or later though.

I read a few of the stickies and it seems Liteon 6s series is the best way to go. I do NOT want to risk flashing the burner or anything like that, so what would everyone recommend? Then what DVD-rs, specifically should I get? Verbatim + or -?

Just rented Bully and Flatout 2... I'd like to make direct copies of that, and two games I downloaded, Heatseeker and Shadow of the colossus

well, I like BenQ burners myself. Lite-On are ok, Sony are OK, NEC and Pioneer are supposed to be very good as well. Stay away from Plextor.

as far as what media, well that depends on your PS2 and what version it is. If you have a V4 or below i wuld go with a good quality 8X DVD-R. If it is V4 or above you can use the same. If you buy a burner that can booktype media then you can go with a good quality DVD+R and booktype them to DVD-Rom when burning, that will make it more compatible then about any other method.

the only difference i see between what i have and the 1670 is that mine has Lightscribe and the 1670 doesn't. BUt trust me you do not need it. Sure it's neat. But not only dows it take forever to do (about 45 minute to an hour per disc) but the disc are more expensive as well. A printer that can inkjet them would be a better choice as it does them in color.

Im assuming Lightscribe is like a disc cover maker?

Anyway I have a slim PS2 with DMS4 pro. Not sure what model exactly. Im at a friends house now and we're going to celebrate todays glorious holiday and then go to Frys, CompUSA etc to look for what I need. I'll keep an eye out for BenQ. It seems most the people who wrote the stickies and provided screens for extra help use Benq.

not sure your going to find BenQ in a store but it is possible. I have trouble finding places on the net that were selling them. Plus if you can buy online you will save money over a retail store every time.
