Bricked Nokia Dbox?

WHen i bought my nokia box, it had a faulty screen. I got myself a blue LCD panel shipped over and proceeded to fit it today. (Box was working fine prior to this)
Checked with power cable before i put the box together, but noticed display wasn't coming on and it was starting to make a funny smell. I noticed the copper ribbon cable was bridging some of the points of hte LCD screen across the back. I removed the LCD and covered these points in sticky tape before reassembling box. Upon reconnecting power to the box, the display worked fine, but all my channels were "Not available" with the clock saying "waiting for time". Did another service scan (brute force, picked up 118 transponders almost instantly) but got to around #45 without detecting a single channel. This was with the latest sportster x2 image from here. I tried downgrading to the 1.7 UK image, was this time presented with 7 transponders, no channels. Upgraded to 1.8 rc7, scanning at present, as before, 118 transponders picked up pretty much instantly (which is strange as i remember it taking ages to find htem then even longer to scan the individual transponders). Currently on 24/118 and not a single channel found..

You guys reckon I've killed it? :-(
