Hi everyone! I am new to this forum, as you can tell. I was browsing your forums for ways to make ringtones, and thought I would share with you the way I make them. Its a program most of you have, or have access to. With a few easy steps you can make ringtones of any selected quality, and any part of the song.

I will start by telling you how to make ringtones with iTunes! Yes, iTunes!

Step One: Selecting Mp3 Encoder

A. In iTunes, goto EDIT, Preferences.
B. Click on the ADVANCED tab.
C. Next click on the IMPORTING tab.
D. Then you will see a IMPORT USING: dropdown arrow.
E. Click on MP3 ENCODER.

Step Two: Setting up Mp3 Encoder

A. On the SETTING: drop down arrow, click CUSTOM.
B. Apply the settings as followed: (feel free to adjust to your liking)
STEREO BIT RATE: 112 Kbps
SAMPLE RATE: 24,000 kHz
CHANNELS: Mono
C. Click OK twice to return to iTunes.
D. ONCE YOU HAVE DONE THIS ONCE, YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO SET IT AGAIN. IT WILL STAY AS THE DEFAULT SETTING!

Step Three: Clipping out the song.

(This lacks the visual of wave lengths, but if you do it a few times, you can select the clip of the song just as well.)
A. Listen to the song and find the 15-20 second clip that you want. Keep a mental note.
B. Right click on the song and click GET INFO.
C. Click on the OPTIONS tab.
D. You will see two time fields called START TIME and STOP TIME.
E. Type in the Start time that you want your ringtone to play. (You can narrow it down to 100ths of a second and 1000ths of a second if you wish.)
F. Type in the End time at which you want your ringtone to end.
G. Click OK and play the song to see if the start and stop times are of which you desire. (You may want to adjust a little bit.

Step Four:

A. Right click on the song and click CONVERT SELECTION TO Mp3.
B. You will see another audio file appear that should be 15-20 seconds long, or whatever you chose.
C. Drag and store that file to your Ringtone Collection and you are done!

If you are a little Skeptical to how well this works, please try it once. I have used many programs and methods, but this one is by far the best I have used. I hope this guide helps you!

If you have any questions, Feel free to PM me.
