HOLY COW, im losing my mind with these news groups. I've read so much on how Newsgroups are the way to go, and i've read the tutorials.but im missing something, or im just an idiot. I need massive help. Heres what i've done so far.
Got me a news group (http://news.usenetserver.com)
Got me a news reader (xnews)

I opened xnews and found alt.binaries.games.xbox360
i clicked on that, and a crap load of files were displayed.
Actually, there are soo many, that i dont think all of them were updpated.

What do i do from this point? I signed up for the three day trial on usenet, and im afraid im not going to be able to even use it because i cant figure this out...Can someone help PLEASE??

people like newsgroups because they have fast speeds, but like IRC they are also complicated to use compared to torrents or warez. Personally warez are my favorite but you have to pay for a Rapidshare account to get the most out of it. Torrents are slower but free, and if you get into a private site you can get decent speeds, plus the releases are almost never bad.

Sign up to newsbins site (Newsgroupe search engine), and use Newsbins pro has your newsgroup reader, it makes downloading files from newsgroups alot easier, just as simple as using torrent sites.

So once you set up newsbins pro to connect to whatever newsgroup server your using (I use Giganews).
Go to newsbins, search for the game you want to download
it will show you links to the game.
Download the NZB file of the game (same as downloading a .Torrent file), open the .NZB file and newsbins pro will open up and start downloading the files of the game for you.

So it's pretty much the same as using a torrent site to download a torrent file, then using say utorrent to download that torrent.

Sorry if none of that makes much sense im stoned at the moment :) .

Ok, so you got your UNS subscription and a newsreader. I still suggest getting Newsleecher, Grabit or Newsbin. But here I'll give you quick rundown on newsgroup leeching:

Either way, it might seem overwhelming at first because all the rar files but it's really easy in fact. But the secret to successful NG leeching are NZB files. (see http://www.binaries4all.com/nzb/)

We use an index site like binsearch.info, yabse.com or newzleech.com
search for the movie/game whatever you want to download, in my example I'll search in binsearch for "tony hawk xbox360" the searchresult will get me:
http://www.binsearch.info/?q=tony+hawk+x...v_age=7&server=

first step you should do is read the info the search came up with. might sound obvious but the main reason why people have no clue what they are doing is because they don't bother to read. Don't just download blindly.

1-[collection]: when you click that it will show all the rar and par files that the game consists of. and no I'm not even going to explain what rar and par files are. (don't worry you won't have to select them one by one)

2-[parts available]: very important because you want your game complete 10055/10055 sounds good to me, if the poster hasn't posted all the files needed, the numbers will show in red like 9936/100055 (but even if it's off a few dozen blocks, that's not the end of the world, cos you can fix them with pars)

3-[view nfo]: nfo files do exactly what they do: provide information that so many people don't bother to read. What annoys me is that the nfo file is almost never included on BT - the nfo will tell you (ofcourse who released the game) whether it's prepatched, is it regionfree, the way you should burn this: all valuable information.

so you either check the box and create nzb, fire up your newsreader
and off you go.

I navigate through Xnews with ease, but I'm very experience with it and have a decent computer with a lot of RAM. If you want to do it the easiest way however I suggest using a nbz indexing site. Here's a free one. http://www.nfonews.com/ then download and install Grabit. http://www.shemes.com/ Do your search for your games with nfonews and download the nbz files. Grabit will download the actually files and it's looking like a P2P or Bittorrent client. Don't use the search in Grabit because it's limited to 2 searches a day for the free version.

BTW..thanks for the replies.!

Scratch that last post. It seems like i figured it out....(i think)

I saved the tony hawk nzb file you gave as an example, and fired up newsleecher. I loaded the nzb file and now it looks like its downloading the files. I think 83 of them. Well, from the looks of it, Its downloading and FAST!!

SO when these files are done downloading, i assume i burn the games onto a DVD? Dual layer am i right? Are there specific DVD brands i should be using? I heard Verbatim is the brand i should be using.

Quick question.....THe files have finished downloading. They have an interesting extension (dnl-thp8.001, .002 etc..) The NFO file does not say much. Doesnt tell me what to use to convert these files or how to burn them. Any ideas?

Ok, first you get both quickpar, WinRAR. Install it. (again make sure you know what the programs do first)

- check with quickpar (by clicking one of the par files) if all the files are complete, (if not choose repair)
- extract the files with WinRAR.

like always: burn with imgburn

start Xbox Backup Creator, click image tools, stealth check ,choose the iso
http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EEZkVkklkkUNKzUjkL.php

if you need ss files you can find them here
http://ss.softmodfiles.net/
http://www.ubclass.org/X360SS2/index.php
http://www.xmodinside.com/
http://www.xbox360iso.com/index.php

if you are going to burn with imgburn you dont need the dvd file but you need to set the layerbreak manually, and burn the 7gb iso file
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=516786

if you burn with clonecd choose the dvd file

before you burn make sure you booktype to dvd-rom ,some burners do it automatically like the pioneer 111d
