Hello. I have the same problem to where the dvd is burning and around 85% it says there was an error. I have tried using DVD decryptor with DVD2One. 85% thing happened. Then I tried DVDshrink. The same exact thing happend. I have tried with multiple movies and I get the same thing. They all play on my ps2 but they stop towards the end. Here is my Nero log( there are only a few sessions on this.) I was hoping someone could help me out because I'm tired of wasting my dvd's. Also the brand of dvd's is Ritek-03. Maybe their bad dvd's or something. I don't know. Please help. Thanks a lot.

I don't know who attar is and it's definitley not me. That is weird that they have the exact same things as me. Just wondering how to get this dvd copied. I know that it's not burning to the edge because the file is only 4.05 GB. Hope to hear from someone soon.

Again doesn't like the media.

What is the brand and media ID of your disc's? Is your f/w up to date?

Edit: looked back and saw they are ritek 03. Are those ritek G03 or ritek R03? Use this free proggy to identify. http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/

@smb420 - sorry , i had pasted your logfile into the wrong thread and lost myself. I'd be crap as a bank robber.

Here's what i should have pasted here -

Quote:
Nero API version: 6.3.1.17
- too old, update to 6.6.0.13 (or 6.6.0.14 which has been out a few days)
Quote:
Recorder: <TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552B>Version: GA02
- there's a GA04 version available -
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?category=4&manufactor=28
Quote:
DiskPeripheral : ST3200021A atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On
CdRomPeripheral : TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552B atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On
CdRomPeripheral : SAMSUNG CD-ROM SC-148A atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off
- get DMA sorted on that CD-Rom drive as it's affecting the other drives - see here for how to do it - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/DMA.html
Quote:
Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB)
Last address to be written: 2286111 (508:01.36, 4465MB)
- You're burning virtually to the very outer edge of the disc. If you use DVD Shrink, make sure to set target size (in shrink's preferences) to 4300MB therefore avoiding the very outer edge of discs.
Quote:
Disc Manufacturer: RITEKG - 03
- sorry don't know enough about Ritek discs
Quote:
Insert empty disc to write to.
(Medium in drive: unknown. Medium required by compilation: DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R9 Double Layer.)
- drive doesn't like that media
Quote:
Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)
- still doesn't like that media
Quote:
Write error
- splat!

Basically i'd update the 4300MB limit, update Nero and think about the firmware update. In that order...

I am not sure what you mean by think about the firmware. Why should I think about it instead of just upgrading it? Can something go wrong or what? I have changed the other things but wasn't sure about the firmware. Thanks a lot though for helping me fix this problem. Also, I saw an ad in Circuit City about some Verbatim DVDs. Wasn't sure if they were good or not. Thanks again

@smb420 - hiya, sorry i have a knack of making a Nero log look good on the page but not actually converting it from Martian :)

Yup, if you lose power to the drive or press reset during the firmware update you can bugger the drive.

As for doing the actual firmware upgrade, i recall writing this up better on someone else's post who has the same drive. hang on i'll go find it to paste it here...

ps the Verbatim's should be fine, but more info would be good, such as product code off the packaging when you next see them....

All the problem was that I had bad dvd's. I bought some TDK's and all my projects work perfectly. Just wanted to say thanks a lot for your time.

@dawg101 - cheers, you're welcome

@smb420 - cool, but be sure you know which TDK's you buy, as they use differing quality manufacturers (that's why i don't buy TDK). run dvdinfopro (free from www.dvdinfopro.com) and run one of those TDK thru it's media info check & paste here

Glad we could help guys. As pointed out by creaky, be careful when buying TDK media (especially +r). About a 50% chance of getting CMC MAG. Talk about ruining your day.
