I beginning to think that it may just depend on what drive you're ripping the disc to your hard drive with

Using my BenQ DW1640 to rip to my hard drive and then to burn the disc ... worked and played just fine. Decided to try my LiteOn SOHW1633 and I ran into chapter 10 playback problems using the same software and brand disc.

I still use DVD43 mainly because it sits in the background without me having to to much else, not cause of lazyness, just dont know how, I read all these other methods to copy movies and is way out of my league, I still use my old DVDXCopy from 321 studios, and also use DVDPlat. from xcopy software, both still work 99% of the time, dvdplat does require a decrypter and I use DVD43, I did have trouble copying madigaskar and stealth, which kinda tells me I will have trouble copying wedding crasher, damn those sony people, anyway I read that people are having success with AnyDVD, is it a free software or not, does it sit in the background like DVD43, and if I do get AnyDVD do I have to get rid of DVD43 first in case on them conflicting, thanks.

AnyDVD has a 21 day free trial and most of us in this forum have no doubt you will LOVE it. It's only $29 to buy........... Also the new version will automatically remove DVD43 because it can cause conflicts.

Yup you need to use one or the other as they dont play well together,besides AnyDVD is updated way more often than DVD43. Also i didnt like DVD43 all that much anywho :-p AnyDVD is the best for the buy and it's $39.00 cause the discount is over isnt it?? But still worth the cash for lifetime updates.....

This is for calwaone, after reading your message I will ask some advise again, I did write a letter on the prevoius page of this forum, even tough I have been burning my store bought movies as back ups for about 4 yrs now ever since 321 came out with dvdxcopy, I still use it, its not the platinum, I never bought it because I still burn my movies on two disc's, no matter how well people say some other softwares say it makes a great compressed copy, I can still see the differnce, besides, with the DVD+R are so cheap today I still prefer the exact copy on 2 disc's.
I also purchased DVDXPlat. from Xcopy software that also came with videovault, I bought it because my 321xcopy finally started to frezze up on me many times, but after doing some research I installed another 512mb and my cpu didnt frezze up not once since than, so I started to use my 321 again, every once in a while I do use dvdxplat which of course it needed a decrypter, I was told to use DVD43, all was well till sony and some others like madigaskar and stealth, now I hear weeding crashers are also causing problems, I read to get rid of my DVD43 and get AnyDVD because the two might conflict with each other.
But I hope AnyDVD does not cause me a worse problem, you see I do not have any idea, not even close to what most people talk about when it comes to burning thier movies, its all chinese to me, some disguse all kinds of differnt methods and go thru dozens of applications to burn, like the ones that use Nero, oh my god, I think I'd rather just buy a another backup copy than go thru all that, a lot of these senior members I think forget the fact that there are so many people like me out there that will never be able to understand thier no-how, don't get me wrong, these people are great, and times I do get to understand some things once in a while, but I'll never get on that level ever no matter how hard I would try, after certain amount of years on a computer it does come down to I will probably always be a newbie.
Thats why I love using 321 because you really need to do nothing, or even using dvdxplat just use DVD43 that sits in the background and do nothing again. I did read you say that it took you a couple of hours to figure out, did you mean AnyDVD, I hope not, I tought it to just sat in the background and just did it's thing, if not, holy crap I'm done, If I need to start configuring things well than I'll just have to stick with 321 and realize I wont be able to burn certain movies, hope not, waiting for your reply.

I have the full movie on my hard drive but the movie hangs up at 27:47 until it jumps to 39:00. I have tried DVD Shrink to burn it onto the DVD. I have tried Re-Author mode, selecting only the uncorked version. Nothing I try works - alweays get the same hangup. Any way to use VOB Blankler or PGCEdit or VOBEdit? Any help would be nice.

I just burned mine last night. put it in DVD Shrink, analize, re author, drag over uncorked version. Push back up button, burn with dvd decypter. I have only backed up a full dvd once, didnt like a the extras and crap, so stick to reauthor only now. Havent had a problem yet and dont anything but shrink and decypter. maybe your disk is bad or something.

Oh well, I quess calwaone dissapeared, havent heard from him, no matter, someone on afterdawn always does, in came scubadub, thanks so much for your info, I did click on your site you mentioned and had great info, but believe me when it comes to try and configure things, I'm out, learned long ago I'm not capable.
Anyway, yesterday I bought Wedding Crashers and The Cave, was anxious for it to screw up with my old trusty dvdxcopy from 321 studio, than when that doesnt work I go next to my dvdxplat. from xcopy software, they need a backup, I use DVD43, and if that one wouldnt work I was gonna go to AnyDVD.
But I got shocked, the old 321 burned it just fine, I always split my copies, I like exact, don't like anything compresed, that was the good news, now for the bad.
Than I tried to copy The Cave, forget it, tried 321, than tried dvdxplat which also comes with videovault, its a seperate software that can compress stuff for you in one step, that didnt work either, also noticed it was a sony movie, ok here we go again, anyway, videovault said error: this video_TS.IFO doesnt contain any titles, also said, error: problem locating movie on E:\VIDEO_TS\!, now when I start seeing things like that, I say OK, see ya, well 1 out of 2 wasnt to bad.
I will ask, has anybody out there have the same problem with The Cave, God I hate Sony.

Nope i had no problems with the cave i used AnyDVD,reauthored with Shrink into an ISO image and burned it with ImgBurn..... I dunno but mabey some of your proggys arent playing well with each other.Isnt DVD43 that free decrypter?? if it is i hated that one as i did have problems backing up some of my collection with that.. I mean i like free stuff but if it only cooperates 60% of the time it isnt worth it to me thats why i purchased AnyDVD and at a staggering 98% success rate you cant go wrong,so give that 21 day trial of AnyDVD a try................

I used decripter alone with iso read and right to DVD+R DL. Workes fine with all extras and everything. Fredbun, I would give up the 2 disk thing and spend the wopping $3 for a dl disk, less trouble.

This is true DL Disks are the way to go to get 1:1 copies,but if he doesnt have a DL Burner it wont do any good-@fredBun i only use DL disks when its an awesome flick to 1:1 copies but if its an average film i just reauthor the main movie onto a Sl disk no need for the extras on most flicks anywho. ;-)

With many movies out there, once you do Movie only, and only include 5.1 audio in your language, there is hardly anymore compression. Some are Zero compression after you do it this way, and that's on a single layer disk. Just ask yourself how often do you watch anything other then the movie itself? If hardly ever then that?s the way to go. :)

@scubabud.
Very true, unless you have small children who amuse themselves for hours on roadtrips in a minivan with the extra activities and games. I very rarely keep the features on most movies and to be honest, if I want to watch the movie I appreciate jumping to the beginning of the film instead of wading through the previews and the anti-piracy pitches. Kinda of like removing commercials from commercial television....

@blivetNC

Good point about the kids and games. In my case, no kids, and I also like the fact that once I pop in the DVD, we're off directly to the movie! :)

Tried it 3 times and got it right finally..

1. xcopy plat. = slight freezing
2. fab decrypter+shrink = slight freezing
3. Decrypter in file mode+shrink(reauthor main movie) PERFECT!!!!!

for fredbun, i didnt disappear just checked my email first time in a few days, still using my dvdxplatinum and still works well with a lot of what i backup, i did delete DVD43 running in the background and started using AnyDVD and it does make my software run better, they also update it, never received any updates from DVD43 unless they did something i didnt know about, i did purchase new software program one click dvdcopy pro, it doesnt compress but you can choose menus you want to get it to fit a regular 4.7g disc,it works great with any dvd, i would prefer to use my old dvdplatinumx by 321 studios because of the all in one program, but without updates and new encrytion i think its months are numbered. im with you of some the techniques to go thru to just back up a dvd, im for simplicity, but i think if you will try the any dvd you might be a happier person, 30.00 investment but worth it for me and runs well with my system. good luck al calwa one
