Again Alkohol....I need another sip of my wine.....lol..I am learning so much from this thread. I believe when another problem sony movie comes up, I'll have it backedup in five minutes. Even though I resolved my back up (THE CAVE) issues a few threads back, I enjoy coming back to this forum because I keep learning. This takes me back to when I first started learning how to burn cd's. (But more EX HAIR ILATING.)

You and ad rocks.
@vernmark

Again, you're welcome and your compliment is highly accepted. I'm glad that there are few/some members (including you and a few others) can actually followed and learn.

Just keep an eye on some of my future "mini guides" when new release hit the market. Keep in mind though, that I don't just backup any/all of them new release dvds, I will backup the one I like/own and want to save the original only.

Vernmark, did you by chance read what The Mad Monk wrote/said on the PSL2 plugin's installation instructions? Honestly, I do believe that any "advanced users" on PgcEdit in combo with PSL2 plugin plus FixVTS, and VobBlanker will more than likely have a super easy time backing up any ARccOS or RigGuard if the individual's have the knowledge. Here's what The Mad Monk said:
Quote:
Thanks to r0lZ for PgcEdit, to jeanl for FixVTS, and to jsoto for VobBlanker!
Thanks also to all beta testers. And best wishes to $ony and Macrovi$ion! ;-)

Have fun,
The Mad Monk
The above comment made me think/realize that there are still other genius out there are willing to help and contribute their knowledge to others (like us that needed helps).

Have fun burning!

You're welcome, glad I could help. I'm using Nero 7 Premium (7.0.1.4 - Nero has never let me down, it has been burning flawlessly since the day I installed the very first version of Nero 6 Ultra).

By the way, I like your quote -- it is true indeed. Good luck at burning!!

more info: I ripped with DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.6.8 Beta2 (only link I could get working on the dvdidle site.) PgcEdit 0.6.2 and the PSL2 wizard wouldn't work (wizard said there was no crap to remove) ran FixVts on entire dvd and then processed with dvdshrink. dvd shrink seems to have everything right. I am trying to burn now. Update: seems to have copied well (excluding the menus and such, of course).

Alcohol....got to jump on your bandwagon. The Sony Arccos protection on all the columbia tri-star releases have been causing me fits for months. Followed your guide and it worked perfectly...full disc with menu and special features. Had never used pgc edit or fixVTS before. Updgraded to the latest dvd fab decrypter, and I was good to go. Burned with Nero. Thanks again!

@ alkohol

Did you see where DVDFab has been updated to 2.9.6.8?
I wonder if it has been able to get past "The Cave" without PgcEdit and PSL2 plugin now. (note nighters post earlier. wizard said there was no crap to remove.)

Hey Alkohol, by the way you have a great thread, but I must say it must be different in the UK because here in Canada I tried your step by step, (which I must again say that was a lot of work and done just beautifully) but it did not work for me. Used DVDFab that seems to have worked properly, then pgcedit (which I had to hunt down because your link gets us to the 0.6.2 version which does not have pluggins) again that seemed to work okay, but all I seem to be getting is the previews and the menu. This is starting to become annoying

would this process work for Madagascar/Bewitched that you know of?

haven't tried this way yet, but neither of them worked for me with DVDShrink or DVD Decrypter

thanx

@dreamon11

Yes... definitely. As for "Madagascar" I've made a "mini guide" to use VobBlanker to blank out certain PGCs or TTNs, then just click on PROCESS and it should be a piece of cake. Go here and scroll down to the middle and you'll see my mini guide on how to successfully backup Madagascar, here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/5/249896

Happy burning!!

I'm from the US not UK.

Do some more reading carefully next time. All the links I provided worked perfectly. Again, here:

PSL2 (Anti-ARccOS) plugin for PgcEdit and DVD Decrypter

Installation:

Note: This plugin works only under Windows (preferably Win XP.)
It has not been tested under Linux with Wine.

1) If you don't have PgcEdit v0.6.1 or a later version already installed on
your computer (shame on you!), download it at www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/.
Put the PgcEdit.exe file in a folder of your choice. I strongly suggest
"C:\Program files\PgcEdit".
Then launch PgcEdit. PgcEdit will create a "bin" folder with several files and
an empty "plugins" folder in its installation folder.
(You may also want to create the shortcuts and the file associations with the
Options -> Install menu.)
Quit PgcEdit.

2) Extract the psl2_plugin archive to the plugins directory created by PgcEdit
(ie. in "C:\Program files\PgcEdit\plugins\") You must copy at least the files
"psl2_plugin.tcl", "FixVTS.exe" and "crc32.exe". (Do NOT create a subfolder
within the plugins folder!)
(If you prefer so, you may put FixVTS.exe and crc32.exe in the PgcEdit's
installation root folder, or in the "bin" folder, but the psl2_plugin.tcl file
MUST be in the plugins folder.)
As FixVTS can be used independently of the plugin, you may also want to create
a shortcut to FixVTS in your start menu.

3) Launch PgcEdit. A new "plugins" menu, with a "PSL2 (ARccOS)" submenu will
be automatically added by PgcEdit. (You can check which version of the plugin
you are using with the About menu item.)
If you can't find it, verify that you are running PgcEdit v0.6.1 or a newer
version, and that the psl2_plugin.tcl file is in the plugins directory.
Didn't you "read" the "readme.txt" when you open PSL2 plugin? You NEED TO EXTRACT AND PUT inside your plugin folder via PgcEdit.

Again, no hard feelings and good luck at burning!!
