Hey
I have just recently been exposed to the world gaming using backed up iso files. I went out and bought my a gig stick and i went out a bought a copy of GTA so i could downgrade from 2.5 to 1.5. I finally did that after many hours of frustraion. Now I am trying to actually play the game and i am majorally stumped on how to load them.
Here are some questins I have.
1) What loader would you recomend. Fastloader or UMD Emulator? And also can dev hook load iso files.
2) Once you have you loader working, is there any limit to which games they can play becasue of the fireware. I think Dev hook is used to get around this but I am just guessing.
3) Last, is concerning the actual iso files. What do they look like? My freind sent me one and it was in a win rar format. I tried extracting it and i got a UMD_DATA file and a PSP_GAME folrder. Are you suppose to keep it together or what? I have no sweet clue. Also I am guessing that Daxziso files are just compressed ISO files ( not sure ) Is there a speical loader for these programs and if so what is it.
I would really appreicate if someone could help me collect my thouhgts and set me straight. I think PSP's are amazing and i just want to get in on all the gaming action.
Thanks a lot - Josh

A "iso" is like the all umd game files in one file.If you pay attention there's a extension at the end on your game's name, like "gta.iso".
You need to put the "iso" inside a folder called "ISO" in your memory stick root.
The root is the first folder that appears when you open your psp drive.

Hi. I am a newbie and i have a question about step 1 (Copy existing ISO file into ISO directory on your Memory Stick) where do I get the existing ISO file? Can it be any ISO or is it a spacific ISO for each game. Do I make it? Please explain and sorry if it is a stupid question. Like I said, I am a newbie.
I can use fastloader to dump the UMD, But it shows up as File type "FILE". Is this because I need the existing file in my ISO folder before Dumping it. Or is there some way to switch these file typs from FILE to ISO.
How do I get the DATA.BIN File. Does it show upt automatically after dumpin it?

@tmatthe,I said:
Quote: A "iso" is like all umd game files in one file.If you pay attention there's a extension at the end on your game's name, like "gta.iso".
You need to put the "iso" inside a folder called "ISO" in your memory stick root.
The root is the first folder that appears when you open your psp drive.
You can download from the internet or dump isos from a original umd. That's how you get your memory stick games.
When you dump trough fastloader you need to rename the file to "file.iso"
You don't need to care about "data.bin" as long as you have devhook(the newest firmware and iso emulator).Just dump your iso, rename it and put it onto The ISO directory at your memory stick root, load devhook, choose your game and click start.
@ace777,I think your brother screwed up...

Hi all!
I try to use fastloader to dump an UMD game. I split the data into 10 MB-RAR files(cause I only got 15 MB left om my MS) and I start dumping. Everything seems OK, but, when I want to copy the second part(and the other ones, except the first, which is OK) an error appares on the screen of my PC which says that the file is corrupted & damaged and cannot be moved. What can I do??
P.S. I don't think it matteres, but I want to mention theat I don't run v1.5. I emulate it with devhook for my 2.71.
Thanks!

But PSPSteeve you don't need to go to 1.5 to use fastloader. Just go to 2.71, in the devhook menu select your ISO and then, after you press start, press home+L or home+R to load your ISO. A pop-up will appare indicating the image. Then, inster an umd, go to game>umd, wait for a few secs and you'll see that is not the umd game but the iso. Good luck!

hey thanks guys for the help. That cleared it up. The only thing I am confused is with torrent files. I have uTorrent and I use bitorrent but I don't know what their for? I am reading an FAQ on them but could you guys clear it up a little bit if you have time? If not don't worry about it. I just download the file I am looking for in .torrent format. Then what do I do? EX. I look for ISO's then they appread in .torr and after that they open in .rar ..... don't know if any of that made sence

After you've downloaded the torrent file you musst open it with uTorrent(or any other software of thi kind; by the way I use BitComet) to start downloading. You also should know that WinRAR automaticaly opens the ISO files when u double-click them!
Good Luck!
