please help...I have removed vista from my laptop (presio f557wm) and put xp media center on it. With what has been posted already I have been able to get everything going (I think). I thought my laptop had the geforce 6150 and kept trying to install the 6150 driver but right now everything is working with the 6100 driver. Can anyone verify what graphics card I have?
Also, I assume that the last "unknown" device is quick launch???
the driver LINK : ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34501-35000/sp34796.exe from earlier in the thread no longer works. Can anyone help?
thanks

You can always type Dxdiag in Start > Run , then clicking Display. Here you should see what card you have.

.........ok.......everything was going fine. Started installing software. iTunes with 10 gb of music, Studio 8, and Alibre Design Expert.....now I seem to have no internal wireless adapter. Device manager does not detect it. Don't know what happened. I did not get automatic updates turned off and have 86 new updates installed. Don't know if one of these is causing a problem. Has anyone had a similar problem?????????
EDIT:
never mind.....seems to be unrelated.
HP wireless failure

Since I had loaded so many drivers in trying to find the right combination, I reinstalled windows and started from scratch to make sure I had it right. The drivers I found to work best are:
Graphics See note below
Chipset
Broadcom Wireless
Microsoft HD Audio Bus
Audio
Modem
Touchpad
Quick Launch
Which is most of the drivers from "Car vs. Driver", but the Quick Launch driver listed by usflorida in the post above is more current so I used that. As for graphics, the driver listed by usflorida actually installs normally and shows the correct model number (Go GeForce 6100). But when I used it, whenever my monitor shut off for power management, I couldn't revive it without the screen going crazy. When I "force fed" it the 6150 driver, it worked fine. "Force fed" just means download and extract the packet, then go into device manager and right click-update driver, then select "install from a specific location", then "don't search, I will choose the driver to install", then "Have Disk" and browse to the extracted directory and select the only file that shows up.
One other note. My XP install disk (being old) was only SP1. There was an "unknown device" in device manager that went away only when I installed SP2. I'm not sure what it was.
Anyway, everything is working now and there are no devices in device manager with any problems.
hey, just tried to force the graphics card you linked, but it came up with the error "the specified location does not contain information about your hardware"
i have the same presario make you do. is there any information you need in order to help?
thank you. appreciate your time. :)

I had driver issues for GW laptop MX6000. The only thing that the GW site was good for, was identifying hardware, so that I could go to the hardware manufacturers' sites, and get drivers there. I got all drivers but one from manufacturers' sites.

As for the 6150 driver, when you run the .exe file, it will create a folder, then it will run it's installation program and tell you that it can't find any compatible devices, then it will close. At this point you "force feed" the driver, navigating to the folder it created. The one and only file that shows up is the one you use.

I just wanted to say "Thank you!!!" to vander1. I bought a new hard drive for a compaq presario f500 for a web dev competition, and of course wanted xp on it, but I was wary of forcing the wrong driver.

http://support.gateway.com and look for a driver pack named D00582-001-001.exe .... it is the chipset driver that will install your coprocessor as a Nvidia Nforce System management Controller.
Or click here: ftp://esupport:vImvF88@ftp.gateway.com/pub/hardware_support/drivers/win_xp/portable/mx3000/D00582-001-001.exe

Ok i read this thread and did what it said and i did read the hp websites instructions aswell and installed both chipsets and i am still stuck trying to find the appropraite driver for the coprocessor that my vista home preuimum needs other than that all my drivers and tablet is working fine.
can someone shed some light on what i can do to rectify the problem.
The only other thing that comes to mind is to use everest program to find my drivers but am not sure if that will be able to find them or not.
Thanks in advance for all your help, :)

The make and model of the HP tablet is.
HP Pavilion Entertainment PC TX 2000 and it says under it that the service tag is tx203ee.
