Hey, I posted a while and got no response but I found a bulletproof way of unlocking the 8310 and other models too. The site is bb.anworm.com/blackberry-unlock/
Be sure to run this under Windows XP because it is impossible to run this under 7, let alone x64. Download the torrent pack preferably and download the VSM files separately cause they include the .png pics for boot images. The VSM in the torrent dont have the .pngs. A PDF is included too.

Guys, here's the link of the step by step guide on unlocking blackberries by software.

I unlocked my 8310 using this and on top of that, edited my start up screen too. I run Win7 and had problems running the app so make sure you have WinXP somewhere. I continue to mention this on above posts and looks like there's no response from people, yet, received some weird reply "No" or something, don't know wth.
James44 is right, let's not post IMEI publicly since nobody would help on this and it's a waste. Unless you want to spend for the code, call your service provider and go through some hassle, the soft-unlock is a guaranteed measure.

As I have Blackberry curve, so I am intimating you that blackberry allows only some steps to unlock the phone. So, don't take risk for few of rupees.
