Computer keeps freezing up

Let me start by saying I'm not sure if this is a virus/spyware problem.
My mom's computer was massively infected with worms and viruses, so much so that it was almost unusable. So I did a total restore. I installed the latest AVG , AdAware, and Spybot . Anytime I try to run any of them, even in safe mode, the computer freezes up midscan. I'm totally at a loss as to how to fix this. The only manual alterations I made was deleting/uninstalling windows messenger. I have a HijackThis log if its needed.
Anyone have any ideas?

I need the beginning four lines to see what OS you are running, and what you need and don't need to install.

You are also missing about 50% of your entire logfile. For me to fix your computer, I need the other entries :)

I'm not even in the same state as the computer anymore, so I can't even get the information you need. I'm sorry, but thank you for looking anyway.

Oh. Well, ouch. If you can, have whoever owns the computer to post the logfile. If not, then no problem :)

I tried walking my mom through it on the phone, and that just lead to her getting mad at me. So I think I'll just have to call it quits on this problem until I visit her again. Thank you for your time and patience.
