If I didn't feel like ordering swap magic and just wanted to go to GameStop to buy GameShark, is there a tutorial that shows how to play backups? Or would it just be easier to use SwapMagic

Just buy Swap Magic, that is what it is made to do. It has features like switching video modes that Gameshark will not have.
