"Cannot find C:/windows/web/desktop.html". This is a message that appears when I turn on my computer. For sometime now, I have not been able to view my background picture, it is just a white screen. All of my icons are visible but the picture is not. I have windows XP home edition version 2002 with service pack 2.

Sounds like a virus some software bundled in with other software and when you removed the software it left behind crap??? have you installed anything new or taken anything off lately??? :)

The only thing that has changed recently, was getting Qwest DSL service. I have not been able to view my background picture for probably a year now, but the error message just started popping up. I thought about reinstalling windows, but don't want to lose everything on my hard drive. Was hoping for some type of fix.

Use backup in system tools then reformat :)
