I just recently installed a mod chip in my PS2, and tried to back up games with DVD Decrypter and imgburn, and everytime I try to play it, it gets just past the Playstation2 logo and then the disk just spins but wont load the game. I have other backup games that I made over a year ago, and they all load fine, without any problems, I just can't remember how to burn them the way I did, I know I used DVD Decrypter first, then there was a couple more steps and then used Nero to burn the disk. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and can give any advice, it will be greatly appreciated.

What game specifically are you trying to play and what games have you burnt that have worked? What media are you using the btw? Some people had a slight difference in results if they simply switch media sometimes e.g. Ritek and Taiyo Yuden DVD+Rs.

as for media I have tried: Sony dvr- sony, sony dvr+ bookmarked as dvd-, sony dvd+, Verbatim dvd-, verbatim dvd+, verbatim dvd+ bookmarked as -, and the housebrand from the source nexxtech dvd-.

games I have burned successfully (its been over a year): Devil may cry1 and 2, and 3, grand trourismo3, outlaw tennis, outlaw golf, starwars, and many others

games I have tried to burn but was unsuccessful: the new teenage mutant ninja turtles, Ice Age2, Open Season, Flushed Away, family guy, sponge bob, batman returns and a few others.

I've made about 30 frisbees so far.Its been over a year since from the ones I burened successfully to the ones that I can't get to work.
they all get just past the Playstation2 logo and then wont load the rest of the way.

How big is the TOC for those games? I doubt you would even need to reburn those games as you have mentioned since you are using a mod-chip, however, what mod-chip do you have exactly? I have heard some particularly bad mod-chips have had trouble playing new games release whereas something like the DMS4, even though old and dated a few years back, can easily play such games while other chips may fail. Try searching around General Discussion for further analysis or even the Hardware Boot Discussion about more specific details on your mod-chip if it could be the problem of not playing those games you have mentioned.

Oh btw, you said bookmarked as DVD-R? Did you mean DVD-ROM or specifically DVD-R?

Hi!

I hope this helps - I was browsing for something completely different, and fell upon this page - and joined specially! Aren't I lovely ;)

I have had a PS2 chipped for years, and mine requires that you hold down a certain button on the controller until after the logo appears - is it possible that you have the same chip?
Mine requires (i think - as i am not at home atm) X held for PS2, O for PS1, [] for films (not that I use it for that...)

I actually find it works best when I open the tray, insert disc, hold down X and hold it while pressing reset... and holding X until the logo has gone.

Hope this is of some help!

I have solved the problem. It turns out that it was my reset switch, that was defective. I replaced it and now it works fine. I just find it weird that it loaded and played games fine that I had backed up over a year ago, and it wouldn't load one single one that I had backed up recently.
