I need to use VLC for some transcoding. The transcoding itself is not an issue as a kind soul has provided a .bat file onto which the files in question only need to be dropped. The problem is playback. I've been using Media Player Classic alongside some codec packs from www.free-codecs.com to play most everything - DivX, quicktime, real etc. - but whenever I open these files (XviD being of particular interest) in VLC, I get nothing. The file opens and the 'current position marker' starts speeding along (the length of the file is correctly identified) but with no playback, audio or video.
I assumed the two programs would draw on the same ressources, codec-wise, but maybe I'm wrong? I've searched for "xvid vlc" in order to find some special plugin/install/decoder for this format and this program but with no results. And nobody else seemingly reporting issues with XviD playback on vlc?
