Tried to backup a few games before, and they were all sort of sketchy, but still playable. However, I'd like to improve the quality of my backups by having them NOT skip. I'm using DVD Decrypter, using 16x Sony DVD+Rs (ID:SONY-D21-00)burning at 4x. I've set the setting to 8x before, but the burning speed doesn't go past 4.1-4.2x.

What should I do to increase the quality of the games? (Yes, they are booktyped.)

TOC Refresh? Burn at 1x? What PS2 version do you use? (fat or slim)

Try switching to Taiyo Yudens, Veratims, Maxells, or Riteks. I simply ignore getting Sony DVD+Rs because the only reason I find myself getting those would be for sheer convenience, but I'm not saying they're bad either. It's just that if you can get something which has been proven and said among many enthusiast and experience similar results, you know it wasn't a coincidence. I mainly thank this forum and two particular members for leading the way. As for OmriSama's opinion, I believe he's actually suffering from the same problem as you. Skips and etc... He's using some Sony 16x DVD-Rs I believe and has yet to try some of what was mentioned above I believe although I can't say for sure because I only remember seeing a similar thread like yours posted by him (OmriSama).

Oh btw, have a good optimal burner or decent one for that matter with updated firmware can do wonders too in enhance your burner's proficiency and writing capabilities.

and if the Sony DVD+R are MIJ they will code out as Taiyo Yuden. try to fine some 8x media that should help
