All the advises so far using dvdshrink along with DVD43 have failed.
Any real working solution?

The Pianist still resist to be backup using CloneDVD2 & AnyDVD.
Tried DVDFab Decrypter, DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, 1ClickDVDCopy, RipIt4Me, VobBlanker, FixVTS....all failed.
Need help. Need ideas, suggestions....

clondvd 2 + AnyDVD will back the movie up fine. so you have other problems
try this: do the movie only
make sure you have the latest firmware update for you drive check here

make sure the dvd isn't bad/scratched

If all these programs dont work them there is something wrong with the DVD, Bad press or badly scratched
Does it play in a dvd player?

I most agree with you, probably a friend scratched it but it does not seems to be. Next time I will backup before lending.
It plays well on pc/dvd player but acts funny at times.

yeah sounds like its bad/scratched try taking it to your local video store and see if they can run it though there machine that spins out the dirt/scratches
