Plextor - it'll burn but it won't play ANYWHERE

Using DVD X Copy express, I burn a DVD. Message come up "Burn Successful" but that is all that is successful. The DVD wnn't play ANYWHERE. I had an IO Magic, it did the same thing - took it back and spent the extra $s on the Plextor 708. Any ideas????

Thanks for the response - but as I said - it won't play anywhere - on the drive the original was read from or on the drive it was written with - zero.

Well I have the same drive.
I use Ritek 4x DVD-R media and Philips 4x +R, but I use DVD Shrink and Nero. Try these programs also.
You may get more help at the DVD+-R Drives forum.
P.S. If you use Nero6, download the new patch for the 708 otherwise it won't finilize the disc! (Maybe this is the problem with DVD X Copy, I don't know, ask for support)

what version of xpress do you have ?
you may need the updates if you have the license id and activation code and password

There is an issue dealing with some movies trying to play then burn on a burner that solves itself playing on a DVD-ROM then let copy on your burner.
# 2. What movie are you working on ? Have you tried other titles? What O/S are you working with ?
# 3. Have you tried uninstalling your burner then letting the computer find it on re-booting and re-installing it.
# 4. You say you are using the ?newest one? is that the 3.02, ? If so, delete that one and re-install the 2.50 version. They are still ?tweaking? the 3.02.
# 5. Have you un-installed the 321 program and then re-installed it clean from the web site ?
# What other programs are you running ? Many other programs have conflicts with the 321 programs.

Think I figured it out. The suggestions about using -R media is what worked out. Not sure why & I lose the high speed of the Plexitor but at least I can burn.

There is an identified problem with the Plextor drive and Nero. Nero will not finalise the disc properly and so this is probably the reason it will not play. To correct this you need to download the latest update for Nero 5.5 which includes the fix for the Plextor drive. Get it from here: http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/4559.cfm
