I have a PS Two slimeline with a flip top lid and see sets with swap magic and includes the flip lid for PS two for sale. If I buy the replacement flip top lid for my PStwo, do I need Magic switchs or anything else or does this flip top lid take care of all that. I want an easy solution without having to try to install the magic switches.
Also is it easy to install and will it void my warranty at all.
I think somewhere here talks about an alternative method besides the magic keys "tissue mod". If you know and understand what you are doing by blocking, holding or covering the sensors of the slim PS2, you can easily use materials around your house as a replacement instead of the magic keys you were thinking of ordering. What the magic keys does is hold these particular sensors down so the system thinks the lid is still closed, allowing you to swap disc between your SM disc and your backups or imports with the lid open like a simple by-pass of the system's security without it knowing you did anything.
Your warranty will not be voided at all as long as that sticker -- assuming you have the recent silver slim PS2s -- remains intact and you don't open the case or mod it with a mod-chip, then your warranty should remain intact.
Also, are the magic keys easy to install? It really varies honestly. People can tell you a mere 30 secs, few minutes or even weeks due to frustration with one specific key. It's your choice if you can hold your own ground and tolerate it. If worse comes to worse, just open the case, voiding your warranty in the process, and hold the magic switch down with some sort of special tape or whatever.
