Hi,

I've a portable mp3 player and it does not accept my cdrw's. Since the problem was not that urgent i used cd-r's instead.

Now that I just bought a car-player supporting mp3 and cdrw i was wondering if problems with cdrw-disks can be related to the way thay are burned. That is I use Direct-CD to write files (i.e mp3's) to cdrw's (since this is automatically activated when i insert a cdrw disk). I know special udf software is needed in order to access these disks. Should I do something different in order to use cdrw's in my portable- and car-systems???

use Nero 6 express mate there's usually no hasle its easy to create one too, just select audio from the list, u can make a lot of things on cd's. cd-rw is the best to use as u can rewrite onto it if u think the songs are shit after a while :)

Even though your cdplayer may say it supports RWs odds are the 'RWs' they are referring to are the garden variety 4X, 650MB discs as opposed to the fancy 12X 700MB variety or something (it also might have something to do with AudioCD media too but i dont know.. not really an audio guy hehe)

Does neroexpress write cdrw's with a diffrent format than directcd or incd?

i know mp3-cd's are data(pc)cd's and quite different from the classical audio cd's.

I have an old 2 speed yamaha cd-writer and some old cd-rw 650Mb disks. I tried 1 yesterday in my new car player (cd prepared by DirectCD) and the player displayed the message "MP3 Disk" but could not find the mp3 files i put on it.

I dont know the exact specifics about car players and stuff but i would imagine that you need to use the actual MP3 cd format (i.e., Nero6).

Consider also that not all players can read all RW discs. You may have to use the fancy AudioCDRW discs.

Also, the DirectCD specification is wierd. Not all players may be able to handle it.

I think a have found the answer:
Once a cdrw has been formatted for packet-writing (udf) by directcd (or incd) most often a formatted rw-cd cannot be accessed properly by your burning software since the directcd driver "udfreadr.sys" remains active even if directcd has been removed from the system. So one should remove this driver or use blank (ie unformatted) cdrw disks in order to burn "ordinary audio" or normal data on cdrw disks.
