Storing a file 4GB on FAT32 external drive

Is there a way to transfer a file greater than 4GB from the PS3 to an external USB hard drive. I have formatted the drive as FAT32 so that PS3 can recognize it. When I try to transfer a very large file through Yellw Dog Linux it stop at 4GB.

you cant transfer over 4GB (cant remember the exact size) to FAT32. You will have to split the file up before you transfer it. I take it from this the PS3 doesnt recognise NTFS??

No. Both PS3 and YDL do not recognise NTFS that I know of. I think I will try using the EXT3 file format. YDL does recognise it and there is no 4GB file limit. I have found some info on how to get XP to recognise it as well. What I don't know is if the PS3 will recognise it.
