Hello,
I have Brookhaven LI Cablevision with a Exporer HDTV 8300 and a 4200 on my second TV. I want to watch cable tv on my PC so I bought a Pinnacle PCTV with TV tuner but than realized I needed a digital cable box so I bought a Explorer 8300 standard box on eBay. I was hoping to just rent a card from Cablevision and put it in the box but have since been told this won't work. When I installed the 4200 card it tried to boot but instead of the Explorer logo I got a Passport logo and then a message to contact the cable company, my service was suspended. I rehooked up the 4200 and everything was back to normal. Finally my question. Can I get the second Explorer 8300 to work with my cable or will they not activate? I was told they don't sell these boxes but only rent.
