Recovery on 3.40 0e-a problem!

I can't seem to get into recovery mode on my 3.40 oe-a PSP.I know that you have to hold R whilst the PSP is turning on.Yes,it wasn't on sleep mode when I turned it on,it was fully off and then I switched it on and still no luck.

What am I doing wrong?Do I have to install anything on the PSP first or what?

it should work just by holding R while turning on psp. couple of things you can try.

Hold R first then turn on power button. (don't let go of R until recovery comes up).

Maybe something is wrong with your R button. turn it on normally, go to a game where u'll use R button and test it out.
