I busted my original toshiba drive and have a hitachi to replace it with but i dont know how to get the key(or whatever) i need for the xbox to work with the new hitachi drive.
If you don't have a copy of your original Samsung fw so you can extract the key, then you need a new 360. You have to insert your key into the Hitachi and then spoof the drive to report as the same model Samsung you took out.
So, do you have a copy of your original Samsung drive firmware?
If you dont have the original firmware from your toshiba drive then i hate to say it but ur xbox is paper weight now.
If you do have the original firmware (orig.bin) then use "360 Firmware Toolbox" to open up ur firmware and it will show the key for ur xbox. Without this key you cant switch drives, this is a security feature that MS put in so you cant swap drives.
i'd suggest reading up on 360hax.com
it got very detailed tutorial how to do drive swapping
like PS2menace said, you'd first need to get your original firmware from your original drive, so you can obtain your drivekey, or your Hitachi replacement drive will not work. The hitachi key and string data sections need to be flashed in order for the hitachi to work in your samsung-360.
ok, thank you very much. i really dont know how to flash a drive as you said, are there people out there who will do it for me, computer shops for example.
