Don't you hate trying to get advice from guru geeks that tell you just enough information about how to fix something but not enough to complete it successfully? !!ME TOO!! This very problem occured when I was trying these past few days at attempting to burn a Pioneer CNDV-60 West Coast disc from a torrent file. After endless failed attempts at websites with few or little questions answered, 5 DVD-R DL Verbatims used up, 2 DVD+R DL Verbatims used up, a ton of trial and error and 3 days invested, I figured out exactly how to do it! (Cuz it is nowhere nearly as easy as what the torrent notes say)

First thing you need to do is figure out what version of disc you are running on your AVIC-N1 or N2 and the update them. (the AVIC-N3 already comes with the CNDV-60 discs, so no need to update it) If you are using the CNDV-40 or CNDV-50, this disc will make your system look just like the AVIC-N3
------------------------------:NOTE:--------------------------------
Since the AVIC-N1 does not have the switch option the AVIC-N3 has on the motherboard to override the locked DVD while driving and Address Search while driving or the R-197 connector pins the AVIC-N2 has, that you have to peel the 1" X 1/2" silver foil sticker off of and join safely together with a silver conductive pen to override the stop and enter navi search while driving feature or no DVD while driving feature. You might consider if losing those features just mentioned are worth it to you to have the new look. (I wouldn't do it, but that's just me)
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Here it is now, step-by-step.

1. first thing you will notice when downloading the torrent file is that it is much smaller in size than the actual cd. (That's ok, it was compressed using WIN-RAR to save on downloading time)

2. After the file is downloaded, it will go into your directory as a ZIP file. Unzip the file with a program like WinZIP or WinRAR [removed]. "ByTorrent" is a great Torrent search engine that is free and searches every torrent site out there by popularity so it does all the work for you and is highly recommended) and extract it to a folder prenamed by you as: CNDV-60 (EAST or WEST coast disc. Depending on which one your are downloading. For whichever one you are not downloading, just repeat every step here for the burning of that disc.) the file will unzip to the directory specified as an MDF file.

3. now you will want to convert the MDF file to an Iso file. several programs will do this.

Here is a good one:

1a: http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tool...a-Edition.shtml

(UltraISO is not freeware but a good working serial for it can be found at: [removed])

4: after setting up UltraISO the first thing you will want to do after you open the program is choose the ACTIONS button (second from the left)

5: In the actions screen, choose ADD FILES.

6: Locate the Directory of the Pioneer CNDV-60 MDF file and add it to the program.

7: Choose the file button and scroll down to the properties button and click it.

8: In the properties window, under the "file system" page. Choose Media: 8.5(7.95)GB. Uncheck Joilet. Check UDF, then hit OK (because your done here) and the screen will be automatically closed out.

9: Right below the help button, is a cd with a little green arrow pointing at it. This is the convert button. You are going to hit it and the convert screen will come up. Input the MDF file in the "Input Image Filename(s):" directory and output into the same directory by clicking th "Use Input Directory" button, then click the "Standard ISO(.ISO)" button in the "Output Format" box and then hit "Convert".

10: After convertong the file to an ISO, open Nero and choose "make a UDF/ISO DVD."

11. After clicking "Make a UDF/ISO DVD" button, the UDFISO_DVD page will appear. Scroll to find the ISO file in the file browser section of the Nero Burning Rom and click it once and it will pop up to the right in a new little window still on the same page.

12. Double click the ISO file (DO NOT DRAG IT OVER)

13. After double clicking, a page will appear giving you the option to burn the DVD. Everone has their own preference of disc but Verbatim makes a great DVD-R DL, that rarely if ever has problems ripping. DVD-R DL is what you are gonna need to burn the compilation.

14. Burn the disc then insert it into your AVIC-N1 or AVIC-N2 and watch it update.

15. !Congratulations! You now have an N3 for nowhere near the cost.

Linking to warez sites and promoting the pirating of software isn't cool. You've been warned to read the forum rules before and now you have a week vacation to do just that. Next time you ignore the forum rules you'll be permanently deactivated.
