I helped my friend set up his PS3 [UK/PAL] to his shiny new 47" full 1080p HD LCD TV with a HDMI cable, I noticed the 'waves' background on the PS3 XMB weren't running very smoothly, we put in Casino Royale (Blu-ray) and the picture was slow and jolty and on fast moving scenes went all blocky. I then tried it in 1080i and it ran perfectly fine.

We've since tried a firmware update 1.50 --> 1.70, and still the same result.

Could the PS3 be faulty? or HDMI lead not high enough quality, I doubt it's the TV as we've connected it up to a PC through the monitor input and tried it in high resolutions with no problems even on Progressive modes
