So I got Rogue Galaxy today, I imported it from NA to play it on my PAL-PS2. The PS2 is modded, a DMS3 chip, and as far as I know it shouldn't have any problems playing DVD9 games, both backups and originals, have never tried to play one but I checked the official site and DVD9 is supported.
The thing is that once I put the disc nothing happens...it just show "Browser" and "System conf." then the screen goes black...then you can hear the typical PS2 "click" and hear the "PS2-load-sound", then it shows me my memory card for 2 seconds, then it show me this red screen where it tells me to insert a PS2 disc. To be sure I inserted Rogue Galaxy in my PC and it read the disc fine, though it told me that it took 3,94 GB or something like that but if I remember correct then it was because the PC is unable to read PS2 DVD9 discs properly or something.
So I searched around a bit on the net and thought of the following:
1. People say that the older PS2 versions(fat ones) have problems reading dual-layer discs. So I'll just have to try a couple of times until it work (which I did but maybe I need to try more)
2. Clean my lens
3. I've never even once updated my firmware on DMS3, does anyone have any idea if I need to update my firmware on it to be able to have support for DVD9 games?
4. Maybe the DMS3 creators lied? I wanted to ask the third question in their forum but well...I'd rather stay out of that forum.
I don't think I need to clean the laser. There is nothing wrong with the laser. I went into the browser and the PS2 read the disc in the DVD-ROM just fine. When I start it from the browser I get the same problem though. Furthermore all my other games works without any problems, backups, imported and same-region games etc. So I don't see why the laser would be the problem anyway.
So...anyone mind helping me? Suggestions? Know what the problem is?
