Game not detecting controller

I am loading games off of my hard drive using HDLOADER 0.8b but on several of the games when they boot they start fine but stop after the intro and state that they can't detect the dual shock controller plugged in. It is plugged into port 1, which is how I selected and launched the game from HDLOADER. Any thoughts????

you might need to replace the controller port though they are only sold on console repair sites and those sites are pretty expensive that i've seen.
