I use "Tmpgenc" for this...All you do is Load in your Video file, then go to "Settings" to "Advanced" to "Source Range" and use the source range to choose the Frame you want a Picture of or a sequence of frames you want a picture of ,When you are done that just go to "File" to "Output to File" to "Sequence JPG/BMP/Tiff/ect" and choose a File name and Picture format and then click "Save" and it will make an image for each frame you chose in the source range....I use this When Makeing Menu"s for DVD"s....Cheers

To minion.

1) thanks for the very useful idea!!!!!!!

2) in your opinion, is there a way to set the thumbnail dimension (in pixel)? Does it depend from video size?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, To change the Resolution if the Picture you just change the resolution in TMPGEnc, you can also use TMPGEnc filters to make your Image files....Cheers

May i ask you more details?

1) in which menu the resolution setting is?

2)i don't understand the meaning of "use TMPGEnc filters to make your Image files". Which filter? How?

Thanks for the patience.

I guess you haven"t Played with TMPGEnc very much?? To Change the Resolution you click the "Settings" button in the Bottom Right of the TMPGEnc screen then under the "Video" tab is were you set your Resolution and bitrate and Encodeing Method and Frame Rate and all that other stuff, If the settings are Greyed out then you have to load the "Unlock.mcf" Template from the "Extra" Folder then all of the Settings in TMPGEnc will be Unlocked from the template settings...
In the "Advanced" tab is were you can find Filters Like Deinterlace filters and Color Correction and Sharpen filter ,Noise Reduction and you can Crop the Frame and Change the way the Image Looks in the Frame and you can choose what Part of the File you want to encode useing the "Source Range" filter...You just Double Click the Filter you want to adjust and a Setting Page will pop up with the setting for the Filter...There are also Many Many Many other settings....Good Luck....Cheers
