Hi, I'm a total noob to xbox as I am about to barely buy an xbox from my friend. I've hear about this softmodding but i really have no idea how it benefits compared to not soft modding it. My friend once told me that modding your xbox lets you play backup games that you have. Is that all it does???
soft modding lets the xbox run unsigned code. so you can do anything you want with it. you can backup games play emulators run linux watch movies listen to music play modded games(killtrocity) adn much more. soft modded xboxs are great

wow, interesting. So I would be able to play a backed-up burned game on a softmodded xbox right? Cause I've figured out in the past that ps2 games and a small brother and sister do not mix very well.
yeah but its not smart going on xbox live modded though cause you can get band but yeah you can backup all your games,replace hard drive, play emulators, listen to music,watch movies, and preview pictures. Hell you can even get the weather lol.
