How to rip a dvd with Roxio6

Okay, I tried to copy a dvd straight over but i got an error message with roxio, Could not start video. Is there a problem with the software, if so what should i use. other wise I dun know. I need help and am verry new to the dvd ripping.

Cant give you a definate answer as i have not used roxio 6 yet. If it has ripping and converting software built in should be ok and the prob lies somewheres else, if it hasnt got this capability you will have to use ripping software first, there are guides for ripping and using tools such as DVD2One and DVDSHRINK in these forums.

Hey first you need to rip and trans it using DVD Shrink 2.3 Then you need to DL Nero and use it to burn the cd. When you get to the point were you use Nero go to http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/nero.htm This is a user guide for using Nero 5 if you use Nero 6 doing it this way you will get an error mssg before staring burn just ignore the mssg and do as it says. Works great just did my first DVD.

OKay Problem. I get a error message saying "Failed to read from file." "the reason is: Data error (cyclic redundancy check) how do i fix this?

Okay, I got DVD Shrink to back up the file and got great it going pretty good, now in reguards to putting it on two dvd i tried to use my roxio dvd builder but it tells me that i will not get sound from the file. Now will Nero record the sound right? When i use roxio it tells me that there is a AC3 and when i put it two DVD it will not have sound. Will Nero fix that or did i do something wrong? Got the first part done though. HEHE thank you.

Hey when you say TWO cd's do you mean you want to split the movie in half and put it on TWO sepearte cd's? If so i dunno about this. If not and you are wanting to put it on one cd Nero should do the sound just right. I would check first before wasting a dvd. Just open up the folder the vob's are in and play each one individualy if they play then when you use Nero it will work fine. DO NOT use roxio roxio has issues.

Okay I have a IFO File now. and can't figure out how to make this work. I now have roxio and i also have Nero 6 ultra ed. So how do i get this into dvd format? Need assistance. but you guys are helpin a lot though. Thank you every one so far.

Okay. At the moment I want to be able to back up my dvd but i do not want to put it on two cd untill i can see it working on my computer. Now I have Nero 6 Ultra and i have DVD Shrink. From DVD Shrink i got it ripped from the dvd cd. then from Nero i got a IFO. Now what do i do from there? I will be burning it to 1 dvd +r

ok, it time to clarify here!
Now! you do not need to put a ripped DVD onto 2 dvd-r's DVD Shrink will rip AND! compress to fit on 1 dvd-r! either the whole DVD or just the movie (using reauthor mode!) your chioce really?
You do not! need IFO files from nero! dvd shrink makes all files needed!!! you say have something like this
2 bups
2 ifos
4/5 vobs
all these reside in a folder named like this VIDEO_TS then you put the folder and files into nero and burn! useing seting UDF/ISO and v1.02

Im really new to this, I have roxio 6 and that shrink dvd program, Could someone run through the steps for making a dvd copy for me? How do I get around copy protection? Thanks for the help
