For some reason I can not get swap magic to boot anymore, all other games work fine, I just cant get the swap magic disc to work, I opened up my PS2 and cleaned the lens, but still the same problem
Perhaps you scratched your copy of Swap Magic so badly your PS2 can't even identify it? Probably not. In that case, can your PS2 still read original PS2 games fine or is it having problems playing anything at all? If your PS2 is having trouble playing specific types of original PS2 games like you can still play games with a silvery color like God of War and Kingdom Hearts yet you can't play those games which are blue-colored like Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Dynasty Tactics 2, then it could be you might have worn out the CD diode on your PS2. If you said yes to the previous question, except the problem is in reverse i.e. can play blue games but not silver, you most likely have a fat PS2 and if that's the case, you may want to check if you need a laser replacement for your PS2 since it sounds like it's dying or near the brink of death.
Also, be specific. What you mean by all other games? Backed-up games, originals, what types of original games to be exact, and etc...
well I do not own any of the Blue Backed games, so I cant tell you weather those work or not, but I play both guitar hero's fine. So to me it sounds like it was the first problem I wore out the CD diode, lol unfortunately I do not know what that is or how to fix it.
Well, it depends, which Swap Magic disc are you having problems playing? The CD Swap Magic version or the DVD Swap Magic disc? Think of your PS2 having two different lasers. The CD diode part of the laser is used to read CD games, whether they're PSX games or blue-colored games (data is in blue on the disc), and the DVD diode is used to play your DVD games like a DVD5, games that fit on a disc of about 4.34 gigabytes, or a DVD9 game, which are dual-layered and contain twice the amount of space you would get on a DVD5, hence, 8.60 gigabytes or something. What I tried to suggest by the CD diode/DVD diode, assuming if you have an old PS2, is to adjust the laser's power/frequency or whatever it's called and see if you could increase the laser's readability and see if your PS2 could read the Swap Magic disc. Well, in case you don't want to bother tampering with anything within your PS2, you could always consider getting a laser replacement at teammodders.com or something if your laser is near its end, which it sounds like. Try experimenting on another PS2 if you have the chance. You would be better off estimating whether it's your PS2 or the Swap Magic disc, which would be highly doubtful it could be your SM disc but not definite.
