First off I'd like to say hi .. I'm new to this whole ps2 modding thing. I've been reading up the past couple of weeks, mostly on these forums.

Anyways, i finally decided to order a set of swap discs (swap magic 3.6) and a slide card. I've been having nothing but problems since i started messing with this.

The problem i have run into right now is installing games to the hard drive with HD Loader 0.8B I click install, put in a game, click continue, name it, usual process one would take i would imagine. Game says it has installed, yet it is not on the HD Loader list. When i reset the ps2, it asks me to format the hard drive. This is driving me insane. I tried hooking the hard drive up to a spare computer, and set the jumper to slave, installed images with winhiip, and it still tells me to format the hard drive when i stick it back in the ps2 and load up hdloader.

current setup:

PS2: v7
Swap Magic 3.6 discs
HDD: 40GB Western Digital WD400
HDLoader 0.8B (burned copy, loading hdloader via swap magic[is this a problem?])

if anyone has suggestions, they would be more than welcome, although i'd like to get winhiip working so i dont have to wait forever for a disc to install, installing directly from the PC seems a lot faster.

Hmm ive never dealt with that problem before aye.
But download the iso hdloader 0.8b from sksapps.com and try that one.
Also try playing around with the pin on the hdd to make it master, slave etc. Also try it with no pin on etc.

Should I get the version at the very top? the CD version? If so, can i burn this to a dvd? for some reason my brand new swap magic discs that i got .. the cd disc won't read in my ps2 correctly, I have to reset the console about 20 times before it reads the cd version of swap magic 3.6.

Also, is HDLoader a good choice for loading games from the HDD? I hear good things about HDadvance, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had better luck with HDadvance or anything else out there.

also, i wanted to add that ive tried winhiip to format the drive, it still asks me to format it when i use HDloader. i have also checked the sectors on the HDD with winhiip and i still get the same message to format the HDD when i load HDLoader.

Hmm ive never burnt it to dvd before aye, but you can try it if you like, the worst that will come with it is a probly unreckognise disc error lol (Oh and a waiste of a dvd-r:). or you can try the hdloader ips dvd version. That will atleast tell you if your hdloader is the problem.

And never mind hdadvanced, its just a pressed older version of hdloader.

Have you changed the pin around on your hdd to all the positions you can and tried running it?

yeah, I've tried moving the jumper around. Seems that the cable select setting is the only one that will actually detect the HDD. I'll give the new HDLoader a shot and post progress in this thread :p
