It all depends on taste, I like the DMS myself, but you may like another chip, with swap magic you'll need to install a switch which is easy enough to do, but I think the modchip is less of a hassle in the long run cause you don't have to swap discs all the time, and with the DMS Pro and the hard drive mod for the Slimline PStwo you can load games from the hard drive without even puttin a disc in

Seeing as you bought it yesterday, it must be one of those slim ps2s who need DVD+Rs.

Recommended modchips:

Matrix infinity

Crystal Pro 2.0

DMS4 Pro SE

It all dependes on what kind of things you want to do with your modchip. Crystal Pro let's you play online games with the chip without having to manually patch them. DMS4 Pro SE let's you do many cool things. And matrix... out of the three, i don't think you'd wanna choose matrix.

TeamModders.com

You can send your PS2 and they will install a chip for you.

They also have a repair service and you can buy premodded consoles there. Altough swap magic is a good modchip for begginers but with limited compatibility (compared to inferior chips)

You might wanna use swap magic. Since your a newbie at modding PS2, and swap magic dosen't void your warranty.
