Clicking sounds when trying to load swapmagic dvd?

so i just got swapmagic 3.8 with the slide key and i backed up resident evil 4, shadow of colossus, and final fantasy 12, and i used maxell DVD-R (the same in the stickied post for using the slide key). im using the fat ps2.

the backups worked fine the first few times i used them, but when i tried for about the tenth time, they didnt work! the swapmagic dvd loads but when i switch to the backup all that happens is i hear a bunch of clicking noises and then it goes to the browser screen. original ps2 games and dvds work fine though.

i opened up my ps2 and cleaned my lens and the rest of my system, but the same thing still happens.

i also noticed that my disc was scratched when i received it but not so badly that it affected the play of games.

if anyone has had this same problem or knows how to fix it i would be really happy for some help!


p.s.
i am looking for swapmagic codes for RE4, i checked the sites that were reccomended but i cant find anything.
