Laser Possibly Dying?

Recently I have been playing a lot more often on my PS2 and it is at a point now where it only runs for about 20 or 30 minutes and then locks up and I can't reboot and start over for at least another 20 to 30 minutes.

I have a v14 PS2 and a DMS4 SE Pro and a Laserfix PCB "Neofix XIV" installed. The only things that might be wrong that I could think of is that the laser lens has gone bad or the laserfix mod has gone bad.

So I'm thinking I need to buy this:

Will this fix my problem? Or is my problem something else?

I'm hoping I don't have to buy a whole new PS2 and can just get a replacement part for my current one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It could be the laser fix as that would shut down your console if it thinks something is wrong. How is the fan, the console could also have problems if it is overheating which the slimline is known to do.
Commonly when it overheats it locks up, then you try pressing reset on it or shutting it down and it will refuse to load the disc (until it is given time to cool down.)
You can try taking a small house fan, stand the PS2 up vertical so it has less surface touching anything. Point the fan so it blows right in the vents of the PS2 and try playing for a while. If it plays for longer periods of time (like an hour or more) with the fan then heat may be your problem. If your house doesn't have sir conditioning, and it is warm where you live even a fan will not help much.
