Help! 2.60 or 2.71 to 1.50 firmware

Our Local Stores are selling PSP I & K versions which i gather are the 2.60 and 2.71 firmware PSPs. I would like to downgrade to version 1.50 but the downgraders i have seen all still seem to Require an unpatched GTA LCS. Is it possible to downgrade without a copy of GTA? It was my understanding that firmware under 3.03 was able to do this. But i just cannot seem to find one that will. Any tips or links would be greatly appreciated. Even better a step by step noob guide! I have not purchased the PSP yet but i am eagerly awaiting help so that i can.

Yah its possible without GTA, i did it from 2.71 without it.....go to this website it will show you how......http://www.hackmypsp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3870
