i`m wondering what software is required to play
backed up copies of Bluray and HD discs on my pc ?
Software would be preferred to play files from my HDD
to save wear and tear on the drive
i have tried VLC , Nero showtime , wmp and wmp classic
to name a few , this also applies to HD files as well
All i can play at best are the extra features , i cant play
the main feature .
Is there this type of software yet ?
Cheers

It seems my system is not upgraded enough for Power dvd
Message says incompatible graphics driver
i have the ATI radeon 9550 , i have latest drivers tho
Power dvd wont even play the extras like VLC will
Is there another software player ? Or am i in for a
costly upgrade ?
Cheers

it's look like you need upgrade,,new technology of dvd blue ray HD DVD they require hardware compatible..it's no point to upgrade your video card..better way save up some money and built new system..as new graphic card they support directx 10 (up coming version directx to support high definition dvd)...as my advice do not waste money on upgrade your video card...built new system and ensure it's will last you for few years time..i do not have a clue what they go release next in the next few years about type of dvd,,now blue ray and HD DVD give us head ache already...cheerss.

Good advice
Heres some of the the system specs i`m considering to
upgrade to , hoping to play HD-DVD and bluray , as well
as that resource hog H.264 codec my system now cant play
Will these specs be enough ?
Board
Intel-965-DG965SS , or 965OT(Raid)
2 sticks of DDR 2-512 MB ram
1 SATA drive-about 300 gig or so
Video card-Nvidea 7660

Thanks again
i`m always looking 2 save money
So are you saying the 8800gts (320mb) is better/faster than
the Nvidia 7660 ? i`m really behind on PC specs , i only look
into new stuff when i can afford it , if i`m always reading
about it , then i`m jonesin for it , and spending what i cant afford
i use to do this ha ha ha
And what does (320mb) in that card mean ? That is one heck of alot of
memory ?
Also DX 10 , does the card u mention support that , or the nvidea i
mention ? Is DX 10 a concern for playing HD-DVD and Bluray ?
Cheers on all your help

320 mb gddr3 (this is video card onboard memory it's go nothing to do with your system memory,,the higher memory card of your card let you load more graphic at the time without lack)..
to play HD DVD and Blu-ray you may need new lcd monitor with logo
HDCP(high-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)..i see most of new lcd come out with HDCP and old one with HDCP (this reason why lcd monitor price with drop a lot)...hope this help..i got go to work now..
